Field Trip
4th Grade
Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Join us in celebrating the Walt Disney Concert Hall’s majestic pipe organ’s tenth birthday in concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. We will learn about its unique features, such as the outer pipes nicknamed “the French fries,” and hear in-action how the different keyboards and foot pedals make up the dynamic range of the instrument. Playing solo or with the LA Phil orchestra, the Walt Disney Concert Hall pipe organ is a spectacular sight to see and 6,134 pipes full of sound to hear!

On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, the Pasadena Showcase House, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will bring a very special concert experience to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This year’s presentation is What Do French Fries Sound Like?. Fourth-grade students will experience first-hand the spectacular sound and design of Disney Hall’s pipe organ as it makes music with the musicians of the Philharmonic.

Students will leave La Canada Preparatory School at 9:45 a.m. and travel to downtown Los Angeles for an 11:15 a.m. concert. After the one-hour show, students will have lunch on the return bus to school

Students will need to bring a sack lunch, including snack and drinks, in a clearly labeled disposable bag. Please make sure that you do not order Freshlunches on a field trip day

If you would like your fourth grader to attend this concert, please complete the attached permission form and return it to the office by Friday, October 10, 2014.
