Winter Sing Brings Joy to the World

The Learning Castle and La Canada Preparatory brought in the holiday season with song and style.  At TLC, over 400 family and friends gathered at the Lanterman Auditorium to see The Learning Castle’s annual winter program, and at LCP, the student council sponsored an Ugly Holiday Sweater Day.

Both students and staff of La Canada Prep were seen wearing their most audacious holiday sweater attire.  From Rudolphs to Santas to trees, LCP students showed their holiday spirit before going on winter break.

This year’s edition of the TLC winter program, entitled Joy to the World, highlighted culture from around the globe through recitation, song and dance.

“Each class performed holiday-related literature and song that was indigenous to a certain world culture,” said TLC music teacher, Kristin Maitlen. “We were able to take our audience to places like Germany, France, England and the United States.”

Second and third-grade students also performed dance routines from Puerto Rico, Israel and Hawaii.

“I think it was our best winter program ever,” said TLC director, Terry Villanueva. “Our students were having so much fun up there!”
