Take a peek inside

Enjoy a unique, first-time look into the Pixar moviemaking process, and explore the science and technology behind some of the most beloved animated films and their characters with the west coast premiere of The Science Behind Pixar Exhibition. This 12,000 sq. ft. interactive exhibition showcases the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts used by the artists and computer scientists who help bring Pixar’s award-winning films to the big screen. With more than 40 interactive exhibit elements, the exhibition’s eight sections each focus on a step in the filmmaking process to give you an unparalleled view of the production pipeline and concepts used at Pixar every day. Students will participate in fun, engaging hands-on activities, listen to firsthand accounts from members of the studios’ production teams, and even come face-to-face with re-creations of your favorite Pixar film characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Dory, Mike and Sulley, Edna Mode, and WALL•E!. This exhibit was created by the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios.

National Park 3D

Embark on the ultimate off-trail adventure into America’s awe-inspiring great outdoors. Learn its history and the vital contributions of John Muir and President Teddy Roosevelt to the establishment of our national park system.

For 100 years, such spectacularly wild and beautiful places as Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Everglades, the Redwoods, and Arches have been a living monument to the nation’s vast and untamed wilderness. Now, captured with IMAX® 3D cameras, National Parks Adventure 3D, celebrates the majesty of these treasured landscapes.

On Monday, October 17th, eighth graders will travel to the California Science Center to learn The Science Behind Pixar and celebrate the 100 year anniversary of our national parks in National Park 3D. Students will depart LCP at 8:30 a.m. and return to campus at 2:00 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch, including snack and drinks, in a clearly labeled disposable bag. Please make sure that you do not order Choicelunch on a field trip day.
