The Autry National Center, formed in 2003 by the merger of the Autry Museum of Wertern Heritage with the Southwest Museum of the American Indian and the Women of the West Museum, is an intercultural history center dedicated to exploring and sharing the stories, experiences, and perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West.

Museum teachers will use the Autry's replica collection to introduce students to the varied Indigeous cultures of the Southwest, Northwest Coast, and Great Plains. Students will compare tools, foods, and customs to understand how the natural environment contributes to the develoment of cultures.

On Wednesday, December 7th, 2016, 5th-grade students will travel to the world-renowned Autry National Center to learn about Native American cultures of the West. Students will be departing from La Canada Preparatory at 9:00 a.m. and returning to camus at 1:15 p.m.

Students will need to bring a sack lunch, including snack and drinks, in a clearly labeled disposable bag. Please make sure that you do not order Choicenuch on a field trip day.

If you would like your child to attend this field trip, please complete the attached Field Trip Permission form no later than Wednesday, November 16th, 2016.
