New Schedules for the 2017-2018 School Year

New Schedules

La Cañada Prep will return to a Monday-thru-Friday schedule, which realigns with The Learning Castle’s schedule. The six-day rotating schedule, which is currently popular with most high schools, has its benefits, but we have come to the conclusion that a five-day schedule is more conducive to the sensibilities of the students and the overall management goals at an elementary school level.

An exciting change is coming to the LCP school day which will now begin with a special “Zero Period” (8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.) dedicated to organized play and exercise. Roll Call will take place at the beginning of the first period, and students will only be considered tardy if they arrive after that.

There will also be some adjustments to the Homework Room schedule. Language arts and math will continue to have homework on alternate days, except for Fridays. Head math and language arts teachers will now work with their own students in the Homework Room for a longer period of time (3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays thru Thursdays). History and science teachers will now work with their students from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Friday Homework Room. A supervised free-play period (4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) will follow the homework block each day.
