Sixth Graders Go to AstroCamp

On Monday, April 20th, the sixth graders headed out to the AstroCamp, located in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild.

At AstroCamp, the students learned about microgravity, electricity and magnetism, and forces through a variety of hands-on lab exercises (the highlight being the soda bottle rocket project) and developed social skills and teamwork through group activities.

Both teachers and students had a wonderful time and left with a greater appreciation of astronomy and physical science. Read more

On Saturday, April 18th, The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory’s performing arts department opened their spring production of Aladdin, Jr., before near capacity crowds at La Canada’s own Lanterman Auditorium. Read more

Seventh and Eighth Graders Go to the Northeast

Over Spring Break, the seventh and eighth graders and their teachers traveled to Boston and New York City for the annual east coast trip.  While in Massachusetts the group visited such historic landmarks as the Old North Bridge (where the Battle of Concord was fought) and the House of Seven Gables (the oldest surviving 17th-century wooden mansion in New England). They also visited the Salem Witch Museum and learned about the Salem Witch Trials, one of the more tragic events in American history. Read more

An “Egg-stra Special” Day

On March 27, 2015, students of The Learning Castle celebrated the Easter egg and the much anticipated arrival of spring with much fanfare. 

TLC students scoured the grounds for plastic eggs stuffed with candy and toys while many a decorated hat and egg toured the campus in the annual “World’s Greatest Easter Bonnet-Hat-Cap-Beret-Beanie-Sombrero-Yarmulke” Parade and “World’s Greatest Easter Egg” Show.  Read more
