Ladybugs

In the Ladybugs program, students get a chance to use their observation skills as they explore our pond and bamboo garden in Exploration Grove. They will discuss the parts and life cycle of insects, as the class constructs a large ladybug. Although observation is the focus of this program, our facilitators also guide students in hands-on investigations of real ladybugs. Read more

San Fernando Mission Rey de Espana, the seventeenth of twenty-one missions founded by the Franciscans, was established on September 8, 1797. Its location was ideal, for it was in fertile country, and it was to become one of the major supply sources for the pueblo of Los Angeles as it grew.

The mission farms produced olives, dates, wheat, barley, corn, and other foods. It had 7,000 sheep and many other livestock. Read more
