Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department at The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory includes singing, dancing, creative movement and performance.

In singing classes, students are introduced to solfége (scales in C), vocal warm-ups, basic musical theory, choral techniques and arrangements.

In creative movement classes, students develop gross-motor skills and coordination by working on rhythm, patterns and basic choreography.

In dance classes, students build upon the foundation of creative movement to attempt more advanced dance techniques, including but not limited to salsa, swing and hip-hop

All TLC students perform songs and/or recitations for the Halloween Parade and Pageant, the Winter Holiday Sing and the Spring Musical.  Third-grade students also perform at their Promotion Ceremony at the end of the year.

All LCP students audition for and perform in the annual Spring Musical. In addition to the leading speaking and singing roles, LCP students have the opportunity to participate in supporting roles and with dance and singing ensembles.  Every LCP student who wishes has the opportunity to appear on stage.  Eighth-grade students also perform a song at their graduation ceremony.

The annual Spring Musical at The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory is not your average middle school production.  With the help of the Annual Giving Campaign, TLC and LCP are able to bring a professional production values to each year’s show.  From sets and props to sound and lights, the Spring Musical is set up to amaze and entertain.
