On Friday, May 2, 2025, The Learning Castle, La Canada Preparatory and The Sand Castle Preschool honored over 150 mothers from their parent body at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. This year’s luncheon paid tribute to the Kentucky Derby with attendees wearing their most stylish and elegant Derby wear.
“Our mothers really look forward to this event ,” said the event coordinator, Angie Keshishian. “And as usual, everyone pulled out all the fashion stops. It was amazing!”
This year’s luncheon also recognized TLC science teacher, Annette Kiureghian, who is retiring after 28 years at the school.
“It was a bit of a surprise party for Miss Annette,” said TLC/LCP Director, Terry Villanueva, with a smile. “She thought it was just another Mother’s Day luncheon until she saw the faces of her childhood friends. Her expression was priceless.”
A raffle gave mothers in attendance a chance to win a family outing to Disneyland, a personal spa day, and a six-week session to TLC/LCP’s Academic Summer School.
Funds raised at the event benefit the TLC and LCP’s huge end-of-year safari party with a plethora of inflatables, a DJ, face painting, crafts, games, prizes, delicious fair and an ice cream cart. It also supports The Sand Castle Preschool’s summer party.
