Singing

At The Learning Castle, singing classes are considered to be an essential part of childhood development. There is a wealth of research showing that music in education fosters self-esteem and social inclusion while promoting physical and psychological health.

Starting in Transitional Kindergarten and continuing through third grade, students have singing class once each week.  Our program focuses on fundamentals like scale, pitch, and rhythm.

Students not only learn to read, write and sing the lyrics of a song, they also learn to perform the lyrics using American Sign Language. Using the C-major scale, students are also introduced to reading music and playing an instrument.

Students have three public performances per school year: the Halloween Parade and Sing, the Winter Sing, and as the chorus of the annual spring musical.  Third and eighth-grade students also perform for their graduation/promotion ceremonies.
